چکیده

A 69-year-old man was presented with a one-month history of abdominal discomfort. A retroperitoneal mass had been detected by on ultrasonography at another hospital, from where he was transferred to our hospital for further evaluation. The results of routine laboratory tests, including blood chemistry, urinalysis, and liver function was normal. Computed tomography (CT) examination of the abdomen revealed large posterior mediastinal and retroperitoneal masses, and in the course of examination, a single hepatic mass lesion was discovered. The posterior mediastinal lesion was showed to be a lobulated, well-defined tumor with neural foraminal extension at the right of the T11-L1 level, and measured 8×6×4 cm. The retroperitoneal mass was revealed as a smoothly marginated tumor at the right of the L3-4 level, and measured 4×4×3 cm. An additional lesion was located at the right of the L1-2 level, and measured 4×3×2 cm. The paravertebral mass with neural foraminal extension, interiors of these tumors were homogeneous and showed no enhancement (Fig. 1A). In the liver, the additional lesion presented at the medial segment of its left lobe was revealed as a well-demarcated mass measuring 2.5×2.5 cm. Unenhanced CT showed a slightly J Korean Radiol Soc 2000;43:77-80

Ciliated foregut cyst in the triangle of Calot: the first report

Ciliated foregut cysts are rare anomalies arising from remnants of aberrant embryological development. Around 100 reports on the presence of these congenital masses in the tracheobronchial tree, mediastinum, liver, pancreas and, rarely, the gallbladder have been described. In this article, the case of a 33-year-old woman, who was operated for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, is presented. During...

A Case of Childhood Undifferentiated Embryonal Sarcoma of Liver Mimicking Hydatid Cyst

Background: Hepatic tumors are rare in children comprising only 1% - 4 % of all childhood solid tumors. Primary sarcomas of the liver are extremely rare and represent approximately 0.2 % of all liver tumors. Undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of liver is an aggressive tumor with an unfavorable prognosis. Here we reported a case of undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of liver in a 9-year-old boy ...

Laparoscopic Excision of a Ciliated Hepatic Foregut Cyst

Ciliated hepatic foregut cysts are uncommon solitary cysts of the liver that originate from the embryologic foregut. Clinically and radiographically, these lesions can be difficult to distinguish from neoplasms. Recent reports have demonstrated that ciliated hepatic foregut cysts may undergo dysplastic progression, supporting the argument to excise these cysts when discovered. Fewer than 100 ca...

Gastric duplication (bronchogenic) cyst mimicking a gastrointestinal stromal tumour.

Gastric duplication cysts (GDC) lined with pseudostratified columnar ciliated epithelium (PCCE) are uncommon lesions that stem from a foregut developmental malformation. The clinical and radiological diagnosis is usually difficult. Definitive diagnosis can be established by histopathological examination. In this study, we report a rare case of a peri-gastric mass that was operated and reported ...
